How New Technology is Meeting the Demands of the Work-Based Learning Continuum in Ohio School
Join Lori Byrne, with Transfr, and Kim Ebbrecht, with I Know I Can, as they demonstrate the amazing technology of Transfr Trek and virtual reality and how this integrates with a variety of educational programs. Transfr works with education, workforce and industry partners in Ohio and across the country who utilize Transfr’s classroom to career pathway solutions for Career Exploration and Skills Training. I Know I Can (IKIC) was founded in 1988 with the sole purpose of helping Columbus students and graduates achieve their college and career dreams. IKIC inspires elementary students to dream big about their futures and enables middle school and high school students to explore in-demand careers through virtual reality programming. Join this exciting session to try out an immersive virtual reality simulation and learn how your students may explore a variety of in-demand careers available right here in Ohio and nationwide.

Speakers

Lori Byrne, Transfr

Lori Byrne is a State Workforce Manager at Transfr. In this role, Lori plays an integral part in building innovative partnerships with educators, administrators, and workforce organizations across Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Lori joined Transfr in 2022, after having previously worked with another workforce development education company, Tooling U-SME, and prior to that she spent 14 years with the National Inventors Hall of Fame and Camp Invention educational outreach programs.   Lori is a native of Ohio, a graduate of Cleveland State University and she resides in northeast Ohio.

Kim Ebbrecht, I Know I Can

Kim Ebbrecht has been with I Know I Can since 2007 currently serving as the Sr. Director of Advising.  I Know I Can is a nationally recognized college and career access program founded in 1988 that serves the students and families of Columbus City Schools, South-Western City Schools, Whitehall City Schools and Reynoldsburg City Schools.  Prior to coming to I Know I Can, she worked at Capital University for 18 years; serving as the Director of Admission for 10 years.  Kim received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Capital University and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Dayton.  Kim greatly enjoys learning about tools and resources that will help students create a meaningful plan for life after high school.
